We are unofficially kicking off SXSW Interactive with a hyper-local event that convenes the Austin interactive scene with locals and out-of-town visitors. Our goal is to have fun and to cocreate a future possibility of cooperation and shared success like only Austin can.

Live music will be performed by The Erik Hokkanen Band and DJ Dr. Strangevibe!

The indoor stage will be set up to present educational content in a loosely-structured format, but networking and fun will be going on everywhere!

Howdy everyone, South-By is just around the corner, so its time to discuss how to start things right. Luckily, we have you covered! As we've done for the last three years, we've set up a lunch for Refreshers from around the world on Friday, March 11th from 11:30 to 2:30pm, to kick off SXSW Interactive. This is a great chance to catch up with Refreshers you met in years past and make some new friends before the conference starts i...n full. The lunch will be at B.D. It's the fourth year of the best breakfast to open your SXSW weekend, and as usual Magnolia's Cafe is the place to start your SXSW experience in the company of friends, both new and old, at "The SXSW Social Breakfast." What is SuperHappyDevHouse?

The original idea for SHDH was something like “20% time for people who don’t work at Google” (even though the event wasn’t founded by Googlers). The event has since evolved into a monthly collaborative event for exchanging ideas, working together, and celebrating the spirit of the independent, DIY hacker.

The DevHouse will kick off at 7pm following the transition from the Google Developer Event. We will open the event with welcome remarks, an overview of the venue and what’s happening where and follow with a vivid retelling (and slideshow) of the history of DevHouse, beginning with its roots in Silicon Valley and spreading worldwide. We’ll also describe the LEGO® hackathon taking place on the third floor throughout the event and invite participation. We’ll close by thanking each sponsor and announcing the sponsored drinks; food will be served and all three bars will open.

Around 8:15pm we’ll prep for lightning talks on the main stage on the first floor. We expect fast-paced, intelligent, funny, and clever talks to run one after another — no more than 5 minutes each — covering subjects like tech hacks, big ideas, best practices, crazy experiences, or other topics that might interest the varied DevHouse audience.

Salsa Labs will be hosting two hour course/webcast for SalsaScript and Salsa API development on March 14, 2011 at 12pm (Central) in our Austin, TX office. The training will be geared toward advanced web developers looking to get up and running developing a Salsa Market app at lightning speed.

For those of you who won't be in Austin that week, we'll be webcasting the session. Remote participants are highly encouraged, and we'll take input and questions from remote participants as well.
