avatar for Hope Atlantic

Hope Atlantic’s grass roots approach to Pop Rock is heavily influenced by where they grew up and where they have been as a band and as individuals. In their youth, the working class rock and roll of Bruce Springsteen & John Mellencamp blended with the country, folk & Church choir music handed down from their parents. In their adolescence, the punk rock and metal blended with RnB. Filter that through the time spent in different bands, different countries and all their individual musical experiences and you begin to see what makes Hope Atlantic stand out from your typical ‘Rock Bands’. Jordy and Matty grew up Selkirk Mb., it was there that they met and subsequently began their musical journey. Matty joined the progressive and epic metal band, Port Amoral. Soon after joining, Port Amoral signed to Roadrunner Records. Jordy's travels brought him to Oklahoma where he wrote, what were to become, Hope Atlantic's first few songs. After a year down south, Jordy realized his heart was at home in Winnipeg. Jeremy Penner (keyboards) also spent time aboard and was first introduce to the trio upon his return from British Columbia. Micah Bell recently joined the band after the departure of original bass player TJ Stevenson. In their 4 years as a band Hope Atlantic has had quite an impact on the Canadian music scene: touring across the country, supporting STEREOS, opening shows for Goo Goo Dolls, the Arkells, Tokyo Police Club and showcasing at CMW and SXSW. In 2010 Hope Atlantic released 'Mercy Street Choir' an EP that lands somewhere in between the US rock and roll folk punk from the likes of the Gaslight Anthem and Fake Problems, and British pop rock upstarts like Futures and Francesca. Hope Atlantic has been featured in many Canadian and international press including: AP (Altenative Press). Hope Atlantic are currently hard at work writing their debut full length and follow up to ‘Mercy Street Choir’ their 2010 EP. They plan to record with multiple Juno award-winning and Grammy nominated producer, musician and engineer Adrian Bradford. Manitoba born, Bradford now splits his time between Nashville and Los Angeles where he has worked with artists such as: Robin Thicke, Kenny G, Cher, Jodi King, Steve Bell & Golden Boy and regularily works with noted producer Walter Afanseif. With recording scheduled for Febuary with a spring release date and touring planned for the Spring & Summer, 2012 is sure to be a busy year for this hard working Manitoba band.
