It is Year 4, as once again Music Fog takes the stage in the Saloon Room at Threadgill's WHQ(AKA&. the back room, on the stage against the ruby velvet curtains,) 301 W. Riverside, in South Austin TX. It is an unofficial showcase so no badges or wristbands are necessary, just a desire to eat some good ole homemade food, and see some cooking music. We at Music Fog put the four day schedule together, and our video cameras will be rolling as we gather content for www.musicfog.com. Most times we do our thing behind closed doors, but this gig, we invite you to come and hang in the room for our taping. The Music Fog Motto, after all, is "How Hard Could It Be&.." and the answer, at least when we come to Threadgills is, "Pretty Damn Easy!" What with onsite parking, air conditioning, any drink of any color that you might want, Southern home-style fare with loads of vegetables, and the ever important indoor plumbing with those fancy new 'no hands towel machines. I don't know, they just intrigue me! And really, why would you even think of going anywhere else?

Austin Texas is known for a few important things: breakfast tacos, warm weather, and a little gathering known as South By Southwest, a meeting of music and technology for a week-long party consisting of thousands of bands playing hundreds of shows every day across the city. Last year we took Texas with one day, and this year, we're claiming four. Our day parties will feature performances from the likes of Datarock, The Submarines, Hieroglyphics, Matt Nathanson,The Rural Alberta Advantage, The Boxer Rebellion, and many many many more (see the list below).
The shows are happening at The Phoenix (409 B. Colorodo St.) from 12 to 7 PM, Tuesday 3/15 through Friday, 3/18. Each day will feature a variety of great bands, including a party for all you Interactive folks on Tuesday, and a day entirely devoted to the best hip-hop Austin has to offer on Wednesday. The parties are sponsored by Baeblemusic, as well as Lexus, MOG and ROKU.
RSVP to our events at Eventbrite and on Facebook. And don't forget to download our iPhone app to stay up to date with the latest news and schedule/set times!
We've got a ton more surprises for you. Stay tuned for more information to roll out as the week unfolds!

For the first year ever, REDEFINE magazine -- a Pacific Northwest-based independent music, art, and film blog -- has decided to undertake the daunting task of throwing a show at SXSW.
After partnering with influential Dallas-based mixtape blog, Clumsy & Shy, and enlisting the help of Portland, OR booker, The Petite Zarathustran, the collaborative trio employed DIY tactics and ideals to scrap together a doozy of a SXSW house party. The thirty-band lineup will reflect the locales of the party throwers, with nine performers from the Pacific Northwest and six from Austin or its surrounding areas.
The unofficial house party will be an all-day gathering on Friday, March 18th, 2011, at a 21-person vegan housing co-op calledHouse Of Commons (2610 Rio Grande St., Austin, TX 78705). An indoor and outdoor stage will include headlining acts like Starfucker, Casiokids, Prince Rama, Class Actress, BRAHMS, The Night Beats, Woodsman, and Moon Duo.
In the spirit of the publication's mission statement, the event will be entirely FREE to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis, without any RSVP limitations.

Check out this SPECTACULAR event! Free booze, free food, free DIY craft tables, awesome homemade craft vendors, belly dancers, great bands, and maybe even a robot. You don't want to miss this event!
Ages ago, when political and military skirmishes spread across the globe, one man grew tired of the constant upheaval and war. Commodore Von Keepsie ordered his troops to lay down their arms for one day, and, instead, commanded the men under his keep to spend the day throwing massive parties across his empire. After that, no one felt like fighting again, opting instead to work out their differences through revelry and libations.
Standard Recording Co., in part with many friendly allies, invoke the spirit of Commodore Von Keepsie for the 2011 South By Southwest with a massive party in the heart of Austin. Not content with only aural pleasures, the Craftacular Music Carnivale will remain true its namesake by hosting the Hello Craft Make Something Awesome Area, Handmade Promenade market, and screen printing from ProvoCraft's Yudu. The Commodore will also call upon his faithful band of merrymakers, inviting them to perform visual displays of stunning imagination. In short, everyone attending the Craftacular Music Carnivale is certain to take away a cornucopia of literal and figurative souvenirs upon their departure, preserving the Commodore’s message of revelry.
Complimentary libations will be provided by Graham's Texas Sweet Tea Vodka & Treaty Oak Platinum Rum.
The Standard party is free and open to the public. Space is limited, and although we'll make every effort, an RSVP does not guarantee entry though preference will be given to those who RSVP.

Home Slice Pizza is stoked to announce Music by the Slice 2011. This free day party (no rsvp, no badge required) runs March 17-19, from 1 PM to 7 PM daily. This year, for the first time, we are donating all of the profits from bar sales to charity!!!
Our charity for 2011 are the excellent folks over at Urban Roots – a sustainable farming program for young Austinites. Here is a little bit about them:
Now in our fourth year, Urban Roots is a youth development program that uses sustainable agriculture as a means to transform the lives of young people and increases the access of healthy food in Austin. By growing sustainably farmed vegetables, young people work together to serve the community, cultivate farming and business skills, learn the value of meaningful work, and discover how to eat and cook in healthy ways.

Alt Country band VISIONS released their full length concept album Re:VISIONS in late 2010. The album chronicles a sour love affair that spirals out of control and completely engulfs a writer, until he decides the only way he can ever write about anything else is to kill his lover.
Recorded by Mark Leombruni and mastering engineer Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Wilco, Spoon,) songwriter T.J. Petracca's no-holds-barred honesty plunges the listener right into the middle of his own personal battles with the devil in all of his forms.
Sewn together by a seamless arrangement of strings, screaming hammond b3 organ, gospel choir, and the twang of the pedal steel guitar, VISIONS takes you to hell and straight back to Nashville.

New York has Fashion Week, Austin has Style By.
But Style X will not only champion the emerging trends in Austin’s style sphere, but also the imaginative and noteworthy talents from across the globe. Debuting during the 25th Anniversary of South by Southwest Music, Style X is the next and natural evolution of the internationally-renowned festival and conference.
Style X includes a pop-up retail showcase that will serve as the official shopping experience of SXSW with dozens of brands from around the country bringing the latest designs in screenprinting and design, women’s, menswear, streetwear, swimwear and accessories. Also, Style By will host multiple fashion shows, each celebrating a different segment of style. Stay tuned for more information on the runway shows.
Music has always been a source for fashion trends and style and Style X is the world’s first event bringing those two together with a keen focus on the up-and-coming. Just as the music, film and technology makers reflect the innovative and creative capital of their respective industries, Style X will represent the inventive and inspired work of style makers from all over the world. They will be from places as far as Houston and Hong Kong and they will offer everything from eyeglasses and t-shirts to dresses and sneakers. The style will be by them, but this event will be for you.
