It is Year 4, as once again Music Fog takes the stage in the Saloon Room at Threadgill's WHQ(AKA&. the back room, on the stage against the ruby velvet curtains,) 301 W. Riverside, in South Austin TX. It is an unofficial showcase so no badges or wristbands are necessary, just a desire to eat some good ole homemade food, and see some cooking music. We at Music Fog put the four day schedule together, and our video cameras will be rolling as we gather content for www.musicfog.com. Most times we do our thing behind closed doors, but this gig, we invite you to come and hang in the room for our taping. The Music Fog Motto, after all, is "How Hard Could It Be&.." and the answer, at least when we come to Threadgills is, "Pretty Damn Easy!" What with onsite parking, air conditioning, any drink of any color that you might want, Southern home-style fare with loads of vegetables, and the ever important indoor plumbing with those fancy new 'no hands towel machines. I don't know, they just intrigue me! And really, why would you even think of going anywhere else?

Is there a better way to celebrate the up-and-coming talent of the Boston music scene at SXSW than with a rowdy party on St. Patrick's Day? Probably not, so swing by the roof of The 512 for the musical stylings of Bostonian favorites Viva Viva, The Dirty Dishes, Bodega Girls, Mystery Roar, Mean Creek, Kingsley Flood, Static of the Gods, Banditas, Endless Wave and DJ Die Young. Shoegaze, deep disco, fuzzy guitars, post-Americana, sharp spinning, electronic tendencies, soaring voices: It's all there in the lineup, and Converse and DigBoston.com are bringing it from Boston to Austin.

Austin Texas is known for a few important things: breakfast tacos, warm weather, and a little gathering known as South By Southwest, a meeting of music and technology for a week-long party consisting of thousands of bands playing hundreds of shows every day across the city. Last year we took Texas with one day, and this year, we're claiming four. Our day parties will feature performances from the likes of Datarock, The Submarines, Hieroglyphics, Matt Nathanson,The Rural Alberta Advantage, The Boxer Rebellion, and many many many more (see the list below).
The shows are happening at The Phoenix (409 B. Colorado St.) from 12 to 7 PM, Tuesday 3/15 through Friday, 3/18. Each day will feature a variety of great bands, including a party for all you Interactive folks on Tuesday, and a day entirely devoted to the best hip-hop Austin has to offer on Wednesday. The parties are sponsored by Baeblemusic, as well as Lexus, MOG and ROKU.
RSVP to our events at Eventbrite and on Facebook. And don't forget to download our iPhone app to stay up to date with the latest news and schedule/set times!
We've got a ton more surprises for you. Stay tuned for more information to roll out as the week unfolds!

Fourteen years ago, when South By Southwest was not yet the music industry juggernaut it is today, Schubas decided to showcase some of the best Chicago bands making the 1,170-mile trek to Austin, TX. Thursday was deemed the perfect day to welcome all SXSW attendees. Good music, along with BBQ, beer and booze seemed the most appropriate formula, thus an annual event- and one ofSXSW’s first daytime parties- was born.
Since 1996, as beer-drenched-SXSW-day-parties became customary, Schubas’ national prominence has evolved and so has our annual SXSW Round-Up. The party still features Chicago bands, but also includes a large array of popular acts from throughout the world, who have played, or will be playing, Lincoln Hall or Schubas. The BBQ, beer and booze remain firmly intact.

Our charity for 2011 are the excellent folks over at Urban Roots – a sustainable farming program for young Austinites. Here is a little bit about them:
Now in our fourth year, Urban Roots is a youth development program that uses sustainable agriculture as a means to transform the lives of young people and increases the access of healthy food in Austin. By growing sustainably farmed vegetables, young people work together to serve the community, cultivate farming and business skills, learn the value of meaningful work, and discover how to eat and cook in healthy ways.

Soon we will ditch the woolly mittens, pack our sunglasses and migrate South for SXSW. This time Mint Records and Olio Festival are joining forces to host a fierce tequila and taco-fueled afternoon party with some of the finest up-and-coming talent (and a few old favourites for good measure). Vice Magazine's Co-founder - and currently of StreetBonersAndTVCarnage.c
om, Gavin Mcinnes will be starting things off with street fashion ...insights and hilarity so come early. Following that will be Vancouver's electrifying Humans, Mint's Hot Panda, Arbutus Records' Grimes and Bikini. Andrew WK will also be there to party hard - possibly with Nardwuar (we can't give away all of the surprises). Did we mention it is FREE? See you there!

Our charity for 2011 are the excellent folks over at Urban Roots – a sustainable farming program for young Austinites. Here is a little bit about them:
Now in our fourth year, Urban Roots is a youth development program that uses sustainable agriculture as a means to transform the lives of young people and increases the access of healthy food in Austin. By growing sustainably farmed vegetables, young people work together to serve the community, cultivate farming and business skills, learn the value of meaningful work, and discover how to eat and cook in healthy ways.

Home Slice Pizza is stoked to announce Music by the Slice 2011. This free day party (no rsvp, no badge required) runs March 17-19, from 1 PM to 7 PM daily. This year, for the first time, we are donating all of the profits from bar sales to charity!!!

Alt Country band VISIONS released their full length concept album Re:VISIONS in late 2010. The album chronicles a sour love affair that spirals out of control and completely engulfs a writer, until he decides the only way he can ever write about anything else is to kill his lover.
Recorded by Mark Leombruni and mastering engineer Jeff Lipton (Arcade Fire, Wilco, Spoon,) songwriter T.J. Petracca's no-holds-barred honesty plunges the listener right into the middle of his own personal battles with the devil in all of his forms.
Sewn together by a seamless arrangement of strings, screaming hammond b3 organ, gospel choir, and the twang of the pedal steel guitar, VISIONS takes you to hell and straight back to Nashville.
